Southeastern Idaho Public Health is one of seven public health districts, created by the 1970 Idaho Legislature, (Idaho Code Title 39, Chapter 4). The Districts were not created as "state agencies," but rather as seven autonomous entities accountable to local Boards of Health.

Environmental Health

Child Care

Southeastern Idaho Public Health (SIPH) conducts health and safety inspections for childcare facilities within our 8 county district for licensed childcare facilities and those that are participating in the Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP).

Drinking Water

Environmental Health Specialists provide technical assistance and monitoring oversight for small public drinking water systems per a contract with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.

Food Safety

Southeastern Idaho Public Health (SIPH) Environmental Health Specialists regulate and inspect food establishments, vendors, and food processing establishments to ensure safety and sanitation.

Land Development

Southeastern Idaho Public Health (SIPH) works in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality by releasing sanitary restriction on platted subdivisions having city water and city sewer.

Mold & Indoor Air

Southeastern Idaho Public Health (SIPH) acts as a clearinghouse for information and provides technical assistance related to mold or other indoor air quality contaminants (e.g. formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, radon, asbestos, etc.).

Pools

The role of Southeastern Idaho Public Health (SIPH) is to permit and inspect public swimming facilities and provide technical support and public outreach to the community concerning water illness and other concerns.

Septic

Southeastern Idaho Public Health (SIPH) regulates subsurface sewage disposal systems within the 8 county district.

Vectors

A disease that is transmitted to humans or other animals by an insect or other arthropod is called a vector borne disease. In Idaho, the vectors of most concern are mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas.
